My HomeKit setup
You don’t need dozens of devices. A dependable hub, a few useful accessories, and thoughtfully chosen automations create the biggest improvement.
My Apple Home hubs are all HomePods: two full-size HomePods and three HomePod minis for home control, audio, and coverage.
Philips Hue for main living areas and Nanoleaf Essentials for flexible accent lighting.
Eve Energy for high-reliability automations and Meross smart plugs for budget-friendly control.
Everyday value
Each automation starts with a real need—not technology for technology’s sake.
These are routines from my own home, not universal Apple Home instructions. Some depend on additional integrations; full setup details will be documented separately.
A Closer Look At My Home
My fireplace and garage setups each have a place of their own. Here is the confirmed gear and the routine documented so far.
Gas Fireplace
My setup uses the TV xStream Voice Fireplace Switch, the low-voltage relay listed in my gear. The complete control routine and safety checks are being documented before I share setup instructions.

The Meross garage controller is part of my setup. My separate 11:00 p.m. routine closes the garage door in case I have forgotten. I’m documenting the rest of my special garage routine.
